About Emerson
The Callan Method is a teaching method designed specifically to enhance your English in an intensive environment. The teacher is always asking questions, and so you listen and use the language as much as possible. When you talk during class, the teacher corrects your grammatical and pronunciation mistakes, and you learn a lot from these corrections. The Callan Method teaches the vocabulary and grammar of the English language in a carefully programmed way, with systematic revisions and reinforcements. Classes include plenty of practice in spoken language and listening, but also reading and writing, so you can review and consolidate what you have learned. With the Callan Method, the teacher speaks quickly, so you learn to understand spoken English at its natural speed. It also means that everyone should be focused all the time. Learn English in a Quarter of Time The Callan Method can teach the English language in a room of the time needed in any other method of the market. Instead of the 350 hours normally required for the average student to reach the Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET) level, the Callan Method can take only 80 hours, and only 160 hours for the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE). The method is suitable for students of all nationalities and ages. It does not require additional books or any equipment (not even a blackboard), and can be used in classes in private schools, public schools and universities. Students can also use the books to practice with each other when they are not in school. In addition, they can practice their English through the Internet using interactive exercises, available to students enrolled in licensed schools. Ask your school to provide you with more details.

A Callan Method English class is probably very different from the lessons you've already attended. You do not sit quietly doing a reading comprehension test or a grammar exercise in any book. You do not practice "free conversation," where people use only English with which they already feel comfortable. Of course such activities may be helpful, but they are something you can do at home with a book, or at a coffee shop. In the Callan Method classes, you engage in important activities that you would not be able to practice outside the classroom. You hear English all the time. You speak a lot in English, and all your mistakes are corrected. You learn quickly because you are always immersed in the language. There is no silence, no time for boredom or loss of concentration. And besides, it's fun!
