About Jan
I have a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Concordia University, with a minor in History. I obtained a TESOL Certificate in 2014 and began teaching ESL in Victoria, BC. With a passion for languages and teaching, I currently volunteer as a French and English tutor with immigrant and refugee youth at a local community center. I also have developed a beginner Spanish course which I have taught informally from home.
My passion for teaching has been coupled with a career in hospitality: I have worked in restaurants, hotels, catering and event management.

I teach practical English that gives people the tools to succeed in their daily lives. Lessons are student-centered and can be adapted according to the student's individual goals and interests. Class activities may include word games, dialogues, role-plays and oral presentations. Students should expect to do most of the talking. My classes are suitable for teens and adults at a beginner/intermediate level of English. I like to make learning engaging and fun.
