About Destiny
I’m Destiny — an experienced ESL tutor with 6+ years of tutoring, a BA in Education, an MLIS, and three years of classroom teaching experience. I specialize in helping multilingual learners strengthen their academic English skills.
I support students with:
Academic vocabulary
Reading fluency and comprehension
Grammar and sentence structure
Writing organization
Speaking and listening skills
My lessons include modeling, guided practice, and independent application so students build real, lasting skills. I use visuals, scaffolding, and repetition to support comprehension at every level.
I’ve worked with beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced students preparing for grade-level work. I’d love to help your child grow their English skills with confidence.

My teaching approach is warm, structured, and highly individualized. I begin by identifying a student’s current English proficiency level, strengths, and areas for growth. From there, I build a personalized learning plan that includes:
Visual supports to make new vocabulary and grammar more accessible
Modeling and guided practice so students feel supported before working independently
Repetition and spiraling to reinforce skills over time
Speaking and listening routines to build confidence
Reading comprehension strategies such as annotation, chunking, and predicting
Writing scaffolds like sentence frames and graphic organizers
I intentionally create a calm, encouraging environment where students feel safe making mistakes — because mistakes are part of learning a new language.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session follows a predictable, supportive structure so students know what to expect:
Warm‑up speaking activity
A short conversation, picture prompt, or question to activate language.
Review of previous skills
Quick practice to reinforce vocabulary, grammar, or reading strategies.
Targeted instruction
Direct teaching of the day’s focus skill (reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, or speaking).
Guided practice
We work through examples together with scaffolding and immediate feedback.
Independent practice
The student applies the skill on their own to build confidence and mastery.
Wrap‑up reflection
We summarize what they learned and set a small goal for next time.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Destiny is a very well organized English tutor for my 3rd grade boy. She is patient and experienced. She sends out regular progress updates and they are very useful to know the improvements.
Destiny has been an absolute revelation with my child. He is incredibly excited to go work with her and his parents. It is amazing to see the progress as well as have some structure to be able to work with him at home.
We saw an instant improvement in how he was approaching his math and spelling, and it made it much easier for us as a family to work on it together.Destiny helped my child to develop her writing skills. Before she would not want to write at all. Now she can write 20+ minutes uninterrupted. She has improved her writing skills in school. She makes learning fun and my child wants to go to her lessons!
