About Roy

I have been a teacher of Business and Accounting for 28 years and teaching on-line for 5 years. I have guided hundreds of students to successful achievement from general pass to A grade. As a past manager of good sized company I have a good awareness of the topic. As a past examiner for both AQA and Edexcel I can guide students to understanding the requirements of answer structure.

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have over 20 years experience in Further Education teaching programmes from A Level quals through to post graduate Marketing and Management. I led a curriculum team to Ofsted Outstanding on 2 occassions and achieved Ofsted outstanding grade 1 for teaching in two inspections. I also have 20 years of industrial experiece in various management roles in the automotive and advertising sectors.

I tutored 2 university studenst to 1st class honours degrees. A level studenys have acjieved A to C grades in all units this academic year

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes I have a current CRB document.

- Where and with whom did you train?

My training and CPD was ongoing at my FE College and various short couses. I currently attend examiner sessions and tutor workshops.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am a member of the Institute for Learning and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

I currently tutor students working towards AQA Business Studies and also Edexcel Business Studies. These studenst have achieved excellent unit grades ranging from A to C. University business and marketing studenst have achieved 1st class and 2nd class honours upper.

About the lesson

I tend to guide and develop the confidence of a learner to ensure their journey to success is effective. Developing the skills of analysis and evaluation are important to maximising grade opportunities supported with a strong awareness of the topics needed in an applied way.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach students undertaking GCSE and IGCSE Business Studies also post-16 students at A level standard for Business Studies and Accounting and OCR bookkeeping. I also help students prepare for professional qualifications such as CIM post-graduate Diploma units for Marketing. I also tutor students to the Institute of Leadership and management qualifications.

Sub sections of Marketing also taught are: Managing Marketing; The Marketing
Planning Process; Effective Selling and Effective Advertising perhaps also
Marketing Leadership and Planning and Strategic Marketing. I have led
programmes on these topics. Thes topics help with the CIM suite of qualifications

- Tell me about your qualifications.

My Qualifications are: CIM DipM (Diploma in Marketing); Certificate in Education (Distinction); BA Hons 2:2 Business & Administration; HND Business, Finance & Marketing (Distinction); ECDL and CLAIT

- How much do you charge?

Fees for tutoring are dependent on the level of programme and student. Generally fees are at £20 per hour for GCSE, and A levels and £25 per hour for higher level programmes. Travel is included upto a radius of 5 miles, after that travel will be charged at 0.40p per mile. Groups sessions are negotiable upto a maximum group size of 6.

- Where do you teach?

I can tutor students at their home or other agreed suitable location.

- When are you available?

I am available to tutor from Monday 10am til 9pm Wednesday 10am til 9pm; Thursday 10am til 9pm to Friday 10am til 2pm. Weekends can be negotiated.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I will tutor students studying for GCSE and A level qualifications usually 14 to 16 and 16 to 18yo. Adults studying for professional qualifications.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

The pressure to achieve high grades for acceptance into sixth form or college and also for UCAS application can be intense. I mentor, coach and tutor to the awarding body examiner's needs and prepare students for those higher skills of analysis and evaluation to achieve the higher grades and help them achieve the aspirational university goals.
