About Ron

Hi. My name is Ron Moore. I offer guitar lessons that are specific to your individual needs. If you have never played the guitar, or if you have played and have specific challenges or goals you haven't reached, I can help. If you think guitar lessons are too theory oriented or maybe over simplified with little or no theory, I can design a lesson plan that is specific to your needs. You may have a good ear but struggle with note reading and theory. You may have played for a while and are ready for a more theoretical background. I can customize your lessons to fit your strengths and improve your ability.

If you feel you have waited too long to start playing, rest assured , you haven't! Guitar should be fun, but it takes practice. I will make sure that what you practice will improve your ability to play and enjoy the guitar.

I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Queens University, N.C. I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and teaching for over 20 years.

I was working at a YMCA and I asked if I could teach guitar there. And they said yes. After my degree, I started working at music stores and teaching there.

About the lesson

I usually chat with the student to make them feel comfortable. I listen to what they say so I can get a better idea how to teach them. I check their guitar so it is playable and in good working condition. I go over how to hold and position the guitar for good technique. Then we start!

I've worked with all ages and all styles and levels.

Make sure they teach proper technique and have a good understanding and balance between practising and playing the guitar.

I had a student who recently graduated high school that I taught since he was eight and he auditioned at the Berkeley School of Music in Boston and he was accepted!

Just be honest. A good teacher has the experience and knowledge to help them achieve their goals.

Details

I charge $20 a half hour. $30 for 45 minutes and $40 an hour. Usually one lesson a week. I require a monthly tuition to be payed by the first lesson of the month.
