About Annie

I specialize in yogic technologies and practices that intelligently activate the parasympathetic nervous system for deep restoration, healing, relaxation, and greater embodiment.

I am a lifelong meditator with over 20 years of meditation experience. I have now been teaching yoga for 4 years, in a variety of systems. I trained in India under a Himalayan Yoga Master in the system of Akhanda Yoga that uses traditional elements of Hatha postures, breath techniques, kriya (dynamic breath to movement) and mantra to activate the bodies innate healing pathways, stress release, and greater resilience. I also teach Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Mantra Meditation, and Breathwork.

I work with students in a 1:1 setting, group setting, in-studio, as well as corporate setting either via zoom or in person. Depending on goals and desires, I create a specialized and individualized plan to most effectively enable the full benefits of yoga to penetrate student's mind and body as a whole.

I became curious about yoga and meditation at an early age as a result of being brought up in a meditation household. It was a natural transition to begin teaching and was especially interested in helping to enliven the subtleties of yoga as a total healing system for mind, body and spirit. After years of dealing with crippling anxiety, depression, and hormonal imbalance, my yogic embodiment practices were what ultimately saved me and it is now my passion to share these practices with people also living in a state of overwhelm and stress.

500hr Akhanda Yoga Certification (included Hatha Yoga, Kriya, Breathwork, Meditation training).

200hr Vinyasa Yoga Certification.

200hr Yoga On the Inside (restorative, Iyengar-based yoga).

60hr Barre Certification.

About the lesson

I first meet with students on the phone or in person to gain an idea of their goals and intentions for working together. I gain health history that is relavent, any past injuries or areas of the body that need attention. If necessary, I consult with my teacher in India, Yogrishi Vishvketu, as well as my other teacher, Eddie Modestini, who specializes in therapeutic yoga for a "yoga prescription," so as to best support my student in their unique body.

I believe transparency and education are extremely important in understanding why we do things the way we do things, especially in an individualized private setting and when it comes to yoga as a deeply intelligent life-science. Therefore, I write up a thorough and complete plan for working together so as to enable clarity in my student's mind, and create time for education if that is something they are interested in.
