About Gwendolyn

Hi, I’m Gwendolyn, a student of Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music. Growing up as a cellist, solo and in youth orchestra, I developed a deep foundation in traditional classical analysis. Now, through my studies at Berklee, I work daily with contemporary harmony, commercial arranging, and media composition. 

Whether you are a beginner picking up your first instrument, a high school student aiming for a 5 on the AP Music Theory exam, or an aspiring composer preparing for college auditions and applications, I can help you bridge the gap between classical tradition and modern creativity.   

About the lesson

My Tutoring Approach: 

- Classical & Contemporary Fusion: I teach traditional fundamentals (voice leading, Roman numeral analysis) alongside modern concepts (modal interchange, chord scale theory, songwriting structures). 

- Practical & Creative Application: I believe in making all of our theory studies feel relevant. I will show you how theory applies to orchestral performance, composition, and your own creative projects. 

- Ear Training & Dictation: Leveraging my Berklee training and string background, I can help you master sight-singing, melodic and rhythmic dictation, and harmonic recognition.  

My study of traditional classical analysis started in high school and broadened to encompass the contemporary sonic vocabularies of jazz, pop, and film music through Berklee. The Music Composition for Film, TV, and Games degree has provided me with a solid understanding of modern musical idioms while also reinforcing my earlier classical training. I have maintained a GPA of 4.0 and completed all 4 levels of Berklee's Music Theory and Composition courses.
