About Delilah
I discovered my passion for guitar at a young age, captivated by how melody, rhythm, and harmony could combine to create emotional expression. This interest led me to pursue a B.F.A. in Contemporary Guitar Studies, where I honed my technical ability and artistic understanding. Over 8 years of teaching, I have worked with students of all levels, tailoring lessons to individual goals, pace, and interests. I emphasise patience, clarity, and encouragement to ensure that learners feel supported while progressing steadily. My teaching style blends structured guidance with opportunities for creative exploration, giving students the confidence to develop both skill and artistry. I focus on helping students understand the why behind each technique, ensuring they gain independence and problem-solving ability in their playing. Lessons combine visual demonstration, hands-on practice, and conceptual discussion to suit a variety of learning styles. I celebrate small achievements, reinforcing confidence and motivation, and encourage students to challenge themselves creatively and technically. By providing a positive and engaging environment, I help students enjoy the journey of learning while steadily building expertise. Beyond teaching, I actively study new musical genres, explore emerging techniques, and perform regularly to maintain a deep connection to the instrument. This ongoing engagement allows me to bring current insights and fresh ideas into lessons. Teaching the guitar is profoundly rewarding because I witness learners grow in skill, confidence, and self-expression. Helping students discover their personal musical voice and develop a lifelong connection to music is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work.

Intermediate lessons expand to include barre chords, fingerstyle techniques, strumming variety, and improvisation fundamentals. Students develop rhythmic independence, expressive phrasing, and versatility across musical genres. Advanced learners explore complex chord progressions, stylistic nuance, performance techniques, and creative composition. Lessons integrate technical exercises with musical interpretation, helping students develop both precision and artistry. I emphasise understanding the reasoning behind techniques, encouraging learners to develop independence, problem-solving skills, and a personal musical voice. This ensures progress is meaningful and sustainable over time. Guitar lessons also focus on building confidence, creativity, and emotional expression. Students learn how music can become a personal outlet, connecting technical ability with artistic identity. Improvisation and composition exercises foster creative growth and self-awareness, while performance opportunities help learners gain courage and stage presence.
