About Spencer
- I am a native speaker of English.
- Because I speak both English and Hungarian, elements may be easier to explain / understand.
- I offer (a) English for any age/level as well as (b) Business English to assist with working towards an interview or broadening language.
- I use a communicative approach to elicit speaking in order to bring out mistakes to work on fossilisation. This is how language is learned best. Fossilisation is when mistakes get embedded in us. That’s why it’s important to be constantly monitored / corrected.
- Homework may include reading, writing and listening / watching videos.
- I utilize an extensive library of materials which are sharable.
- British English varies from American English and I am accustomed to the latter. I can help by implementing conversation, examining various aspects like: colloquial / slang terminologies, American variants in vocabulary, American / non-European culture, music, etc.
- As for types of students, I have no preferences. I can assist you with business English, pronunciation, job interviews, IELTS, TOEFL, immigration, among various other areas.
- I am open to / encourage a myriad of topics for discussions.
- Due to my timezone, the hours listed are the only available times.
- Cancellations must be made 12 hours prior to the lesson, otherwise the lesson must be payed in full.
- Discounts are available for classes booked in advance.

I was born and raised in New York City and exposed to both urban and rural life along with various cultures. I got involved in hospitality and healthcare which later led me to care taking. This was a key component in harvesting attentiveness, patience and tolerance. I then got into the arts and music industry after graduating from engineering school and worked at several record companies in areas of development and creative direction. This drove me to start my own label soon thereafter and allowed me to work with people from many countries who didn't speak English well, forcing me to work around language barriers in efforts to strengthen communication. I also owned and operated a music studio that ran tutorials there as well.
My musical background, along with my early interest in writing, gave meaning to English, linguistics and psychology. In September of 2015, I moved to Russia to change my environment and try a new direction, but I was exposed to a language barrier again. Since then, I have worked in Primorsky Krai now in several private schools teaching English for about 4 years and received TESOL certification in July of 2017.
