About Ellie

My students describe me as the eccentric psychology/sociology teacher. I tailor my approach to fit outgoing and more reserved students alike; my priority is you getting the most out of our sessions. I hold a BSc and PGCE in Psychology as well as an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience, my lifelong dedication to Psychology is enjoyed in my spare time and passed on through my work. Sociology is an incredible interest of mine, I learnt it to be able to teach it and everyone in my personal life has had to learn Sociology key terms to keep up with how I talk about social issues now!

In Sociology we talk about how middle class students have a head start above working class students in education due to their economic capital allowing them to afford resources including private tutors. This is why I have begun tutoring at the lowest possible price; everyone deserves access to additional help should they want to take it.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is very tailored to what works best for you. My enthusiasm for my subjects is unmatched, this could look like eccentric examples until that daunting topic suddenly seems manageable to bring back to exam questions, or steady topping up of your knowledge to build confidence over time. My aim is to get you to enjoy your subjects and learning in a way that gets you ready for the exam without feeling like you are jumping through hoops or losing your love for your subjects. Typical lesson lengths are 30-60 minutes, some students prefer to book double lessons. I am a qualified teacher with 8 years of experience in Psychology and Sociology AQA A-Level and Sociology AQA GCSE including in person teaching as Head of Sixth Form, Subject Lead, one-to-one sessions, and teaching online through lockdown.
