Setting up Basics:
I think it is crucial for a tutor to cover the basics of any given concept before going into the more complex concepts. If the student has a weak foundation
they will always struggle with more advanced topics hence it is important to find out if a student has problems with the basics.
Creating a good relationship with student:
I think it is important for a tutor to build rapport with the student they teach. If a relationship of mutual understanding is created where the student and teacher
can bounce ideas of each other and the student feels appreciated, the student will be more involved in doing well in the subject and be more perceptive to their tutor.
However, it is also important that the student is not dependent on their tutor.
Listening to the student:
I think it is a skill a lot of tutors lack. I believe a tutor should be able to listen to their students instead of just imposing their thought process.
It is important that a tutor infer what a student is struggling in , even if the student isn't able to clearly communicate that.
