About Josh

I am a First-Class LLB (Hons) graduate with over seven years of tutoring experience, helping students from primary school through to GCSE, A Level, SQA National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher and undergraduate university achieve their academic goals.

My teaching philosophy is simple: success isn't just about knowing the content; it's about knowing how to earn marks. I place a strong emphasis on understanding the marking scheme, examiner expectations and assessment criteria, so students learn exactly what distinguishes an average answer from an outstanding one.

Whether we're working on a law essay, an English response, a dissertation or an exam paper, I teach students how to structure answers logically, develop stronger analysis, apply evidence effectively and address every point examiners are looking for. In law, this includes mastering the IRAC method, problem questions, legal analysis and essay writing. Rather than memorising information, students develop a framework they can apply confidently in any assessment.

I also provide structured exam preparation, including revision planning, time management, question analysis, mock exam practice and techniques for performing under pressure. My aim is to help students walk into every exam knowing not only the subject but also how to maximise every available mark.
Alongside Law, I teach English, Mathematics, Modern Studies and Social Sciences, and also support students with CVs, personal statements and interview preparation. I have completed training to support neurodivergent learners, enabling me to adapt my lessons to diverse learning styles and create an environment where every student can thrive.

I am a First-Class LLB (Hons) Law graduate with over seven years of tutoring experience. My prices vary based on your level:

I help students from primary school through to GCSE, A Level, SQA National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher and undergraduate university achieve their academic goals.

I specialise in Scots and English (and International) Law, as well as English, Mathematics, Modern Studies and Social Sciences. Whether you're looking to improve your understanding of the subject, prepare for exams or achieve the highest grades possible, every lesson is tailored to your individual needs and learning style.

One of my greatest strengths is teaching exam technique. I don't just explain the content—I show students how to maximise marks by understanding assessment criteria, structuring answers effectively and writing in the style examiners are looking for. This includes support with law essays, legal problem questions using the IRAC method, dissertations, coursework, revision planning and critical thinking. Having achieved over 90% in my undergraduate dissertation, I understand what distinguishes good work from outstanding work.

Alongside academic tutoring, I provide CV writing, cover letter writing, personal statement writing, and interview preparation for university applications, internships, vacation schemes, training contracts, and graduate roles. My aim is to help students develop skills that benefit them both academically and professionally.

I have also completed training in supporting neurodivergent learners, allowing me to adapt lessons for different learning styles and educational needs. My teaching is patient, structured and encouraging, creating an environment where students feel confident asking questions and making genuine progress.
