About Siddharth

I’m a guitarist, singer-songwriter, and music educator based in Kolkata, with 14+ years of teaching experience and a career spanning live performance, songwriting, and studio recording.

I perform in a variety of settings, from solo acoustic sets using a loop station to playing electric guitar in a trio with bass and drums. My approach to music is rooted in jazz harmony, which shapes how I understand and teach the guitar across styles like pop, blues, and rock. At the heart of my teaching is helping students understand not just what to play, but how music works beneath the surface. I’ve also released an EP of original music, *Don’t Trust the Colour Blue*, and continue to write and perform my own material.

Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time, looking to improve your technique, or wanting to explore new styles and develop a deeper understanding of music, I’d love to help you find your own voice on the instrument.

About the lesson

Guitar lessons built around understanding, creativity, and musical freedom.

My approach draws on 14 years of teaching experience and a musical foundation rooted in jazz harmony. Rather than teaching songs in isolation, I help you understand how harmony, melody, and rhythm work together, so you can take what you learn and use it to make music of your own.

The goal isn't just to learn what to play, but to discover what you can do with it. Through improvisation and composition, you'll learn to explore musical ideas, experiment with different sounds, and express yourself more freely on the guitar. Along the way, you'll build the technique, musical understanding, and ear to learn new music and find your own way through it.

What you'll work on:

- Technique, theory, and harmony, building a foundation that helps you understand what you're playing and why it works.
- Improvisation, developing your musical vocabulary and learning to create melodies and ideas beyond familiar patterns.
- Composition, exploring how to turn your own thoughts and ideas into chord progressions, and original pieces.
- Ear training, learning to recognise musical patterns, work them out on the guitar, and pick up songs without always relying on tabs or tutorials.
- Your musical interests and goals, with lessons shaped around what you want to learn and the skills you want to develop.

My lessons are open to everyone, from complete beginners to experienced players looking to break out of familiar patterns. Wherever you're starting from, the aim is to help you understand music more deeply, explore it with confidence, and create something that's genuinely your own!

I have been learning guitar from Siddharth sir for a year and I have learnt so much. I can pick up any song in a few minutes. I play my own guitar solos on my favourite songs. I have made my own band where I am the lead guitarist and we play fusion music. I look forward to guitar class every week!
