About Stephen
An Irishman in Paris, here to help you with your English! A native speaker, I hold a TEFL certificate, a BA in English from Trinity College Dublin, and a Master's degree in European Literature and Culture from the University of Strasbourg.
As a polyglot, I'm well aware of the anxieties, roadblocks, and difficulties that can hinder your progress when learning a language —whether you're starting out or facing that frustrating plateau between intermediate and advanced. That's why I've developed a variety of approaches tailored to different learning styles.
My years of experience as an editor and translator have given me a profound and precise familiarity with English language's grammar and vocabulary, something I am happy to offer in my lessons.
As someone passionate about cultural exchange, I love using conversation to discover other cultures and to help you discover mine, as well as the cultures of various English-speaking countries, with which I have been in contact all my life.

All my courses are tailor-made to suit the needs, objectives, and current level of my students.
I am a strong believer in the importance of active learning and production, which is why my classes are primarily focused on conversation. While this may seem intimidating at first, the foundation of this is a comfortable environment where corrections are given with a smile.
Through these conversations, we will work together to identify the areas of your English you want to work on, be it your grammar, your vocabulary, or your pronunciation. We can then work specifically on these areas while actively improving the fluency of your spoken English. I have an expert ear for pronunciation and can help you improve your accent and cadence, whether you're aiming for a British or American accent.
With several years of experience as an academic translator and editor, I also specialise in academic English and can give specific lessons on academic writing and speaking for presentations.
