About Melanie

I’m a session musician and songwriter, currently gigging and touring with LA and San Diego based projects on guitar, bass, and occasionally mandolin. I’ve been playing for 17 years and counting and have a Bachelor’s of Music in jazz guitar. I’ve coproduced and laid down live instrumentation for several artists’ original releases, including my own. In-person lessons will be held at my fully equipped studio in Sherman Oaks.

About the lesson

First we’ll discuss your unique goals and formulate a personalized plan. Some people want to read notation and learn theory, some don’t and just want to learn to play their instrument song by song. Whatever musical future you envision, lessons will include any combo of the following:

- Ear training
- Music theory
- Technical exercises
- Fretboard fluency (learn how to play chords in any postion on the fretboard, always know which note you’re playing)
- Reading tabs
- Read/write music notation
- Improvisation
- Playing and singing…at the same time :O
- Custom backing tracks
- Custom chord charts/lead sheets
- Come jam in my studio equipped with guitars, basses, mandolin, ukulele, mics, drum kit, a full sized keyboard, and production setup
