Native Certified English Teacher (CELTA) working in Ile-de-France in the city of Paris

Having had the pleasure of working with Chiara during the past academic year at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, I am in a position to recommend her wholeheartedly to any future employer.
CELTA-trained and totally bilingual/bicultural Franco-Australian, Chiara joined our team in Nice after having worked as an English teacher in Madrid for several years. She took over classes at both our Economics and Business Management School (ISEM) and International Law (IDPD) campuses. The previous ESP/EAP teaching experiences she had acquired in Spain allowed her to adapt quickly and seamlessly to the very demanding and diverse classes and full timetable.
At the ISEM, Chiara intervened at an undergraduate as well as a postgraduate level, teaching in a number of courses ranging from Sociology and Economics, Social and Business Administration to our work-study Human Resources professional degree programmes. At the IDPD she taught groups of Masters 2 students in International Law.
In the short time she worked at the university, she proved herself to be an incredibly resourceful and responsible professional. With outstanding organizational skills and a keen ability to think out-of-the-box and find solutions to potential complications and setbacks, Chiara demonstrated a very positive and pro-active attitude towards absolutely everything she undertook. Hard-working, conscientious and motivated, Chiara was always on the lookout for innovative ideas and teaching approaches in order to improve learning outcomes, and her classes were prepared and delivered with the highest level of commitment and quality. A natural team-worker, Chiara collaborated willingly with fellow teachers often helping out with suggestions and sharing her content.
With classes ranging from A2 to C2, Chiara worked well with both homogenous and mixed level groups. Responding very positively to the needs of advanced students, she was equally successful with lower level classes. Teaching groups of varying sizes (from 15 to over 30 students), using a variety of classroom formats and technologies, Chiara implemented material from a range of sources keeping it relevant to the students' studies and engaging their curiosity on a wider scale. Supportive of her students and always ready to offer help and advice after class by email and through the university’s learning management system, her student feedback reports were excellent.
Our student body comes from very diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds with different learner needs and expectations, Chiara’s foreign language skills, her multicultural background and above-average understanding of other cultures combined with her past teaching experiences enabled her to navigate well and adapt her approach to the different classes.
A very engaged, creative and passionate teacher, Chiara participated actively in an online student project I set up at the ISEM contributing quality material on a purely volunteer basis. Her native-speaker command of the language and eye-for-detail were put to use in creating a number of interactive online activities.
At a more administrative level, I found Chiara to be extremely reliable regarding student administration, course planning, exam preparation, marking and grade deadlines. Punctual, well-groomed and possessing excellent communication skills, Chiara’s very out-going and cheerful personality enabled her to blend in well and maintain excellent relations with academic and administrative staff alike.
Chiara has chosen to move to Paris in search of better employment opportunities in order to build on what promises to be a rich career in English language teaching. Clearly a very wise decision, I wish her the best of luck.
