About Wendy
Our ideal classroom is filled with students enthusiastically engaged in discussions and working together to solve a problem or understand a new concept. We use a well-defined 4-step model in order to integrate form in a proficiency-oriented approach. This guided interactive presentation normally takes the form of student repetitions of key phrases cued by the teacher, student-teacher role reversal, listening comprehension exercises, or discussions that anticipate the content of a reading. The goal is to enable the students to stretch their language abilities by using the new elements of target language in meaningful ways through the help and mediation of the teacher.
The second step focuses learners’ attention on some aspects of the language that were used during the presentation activity. I normally have students practice various verbs in a particular tense to formulate questions. The point of this step is to get learners to focus attention on the target form without needless elaboration or wasted time.
The third stage is the co-construction. With my students’ help, I construct a grammatical explanation to understand the target form practised in the second stage exercises. During this step, my students are guided to hypothesise, guess, make predictions or come to generalisations about the target form, without me overwhelming them with superfluous grammatical knowledge.
The last step is the extension activity. Examples are information-gap activities, role-play situations, dramatizations, games, authentic writing projects, or simulations of real-life situations. In each case, learners have the opportunity to practise and use the target form in a way that mimics situations encountered in real life.

I had IELTS GT lessons with Paul for nearly 12 months and I cannot recommend him enough.
