About Johnetta

Technical precision defines my work as a pianist holding an MMus from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. I have refined the art of deconstructing bad habits over 10 years of professional teaching. My primary role is the finger independence rebuilder for over 500 students.

I keep the vocabulary plain until the idea lands, then we put the proper names on it. Learning piano requires patience. There was a point where the instrument clicked for me, and I spent a long time engineering that exact moment for others.

About the lesson

Keys depress under your fingers as we address the mechanical tension preventing fluid motion during a jazz improvisation or classical piece. A typical session involves isolating small movements to rewire your hand shape and posture from the very bottom up.

Clear communication remains the priority while we cover dynamics, expression, ear training, and complex chord voicing. You gain free access to my annotated practice notes after every lesson to ensure you stay on track between our meetings. Difficult sections that you currently dread will transform into the most enjoyable segments of your repertoire. We will build your accompaniment skills and memorisation techniques until you finally achieve the musical clarity you seek.
