About Viv
I hold a Diploma of Teaching, B.A., M.Ed. and Post Graduate Diploma TESOL. I have taught in non-English speaking countries; Kuwait, Egypt, Hong Kong, China and with non-English speaking students; USA, Uganda. I have done private tutoring in Hong Kong and China and am currently conducting online tutoring for students in China. I completed the PG TESOL to gain understanding in the difference between teaching literacy and teaching language and how the two need to be combined.

I offer online lessons, using zoom or tencent, I can add other mediums if preferred.
I present concepts for learning, supported with video clips and songs and activities we work on together, building on student achievements and addressing challenges or areas of misunderstanding. I encourage student feedback to share their interests and what they are finding difficult.
I also provide guided reading sessions with my lessons, allowing for guidance in using punctuation, emphasis and how sounds in words can change in relation preceding words.
Phonemic awareness (phonics) is used in context with gaining understanding of word and phrases, using word families and word chunks to recoginise words and to read unfamiliar and challenging words.
I value creativity and try to incorporate students' interests into lessons by using resources that encourage discussion and communication and make the learning intentions of the lesson relevant to individual students.

Rate is for one hour online lessons via zoom or tencent and includes resources that cater for learners' needs. The first lesson is being offered free but will only be half hour duration. This lesson will help determine learner needs and interests.
