About Mark

My journey with music started back when I was just 8 years old, sitting behind a Yamaha Electone. Like many of you, I started with the basics, which eventually led me to study classical organ at the University of Minnesota. But as I grew, I realized my heart was beating to a different rhythm—contemporary music. I took a leap of faith, switched to the McNally Smith School of Music for Jazz Performance, and I’ve never looked back. After finishing my Jazz Performance studies at McNally Smith, music became my life. It’s been an incredible journey, and honestly, the learning never stops. I’m still growing every day, and I’m so excited to bring everything I’ve learned to our lessons. Let's find your sound together!

About the lesson

Hi there!
If you’re looking to find your voice on the piano, you’re in the right place. My course is designed to take you from the very basics all the way to advanced artistry. We’ll start by building a solid foundation in piano technique, rhythm, and hearing the sound, making sure you can play with both fluency and feeling. From there, we’ll dive into contemporary harmony and explore everything from classic styles to Jazz, Fusion, Funk, and Blues.
For those ready to level up, we’ll tackle the 'pro' stuff: advanced improvisation, ear training, composition, and transcription. But here’s the thing—I’m not just here to show you what to play; I want to show you how to think like a musician. I see myself as a mentor who’s in your corner, helping you navigate the challenges that come with learning an instrument. Music takes discipline and heart, but if you’re ready to put in the work, I’m ready to help you reach your goals.
Whether you're 15 or 50, and even if you’ve never touched a key before, let's start this journey together.
Greetings and blessings!
