About Clare

I am a passionate and dedicated tutor with a strong background in Health and Social Care and Psychology. With over 10 years of experience in the care sector and 5 years in education, I bring both practical knowledge and academic expertise to my teaching. My approach is student-centred, ensuring that lessons are engaging, interactive, and tailored to individual learning styles. My desire to teach comes from my love of learning and my commitment to helping others grow. I believe that education has the power to change lives, and I want to inspire my students to develop confidence, think critically, and apply their knowledge in real-world settings. Having worked in the care sector, I understand the importance of well-trained professionals, and I take pride in preparing the next generation for meaningful careers in health and social care. I love spending time outdoors, especially by the water, and I have a deep appreciation for history and science—I’m always eager to learn more about the world around me. I also enjoy hands-on activities, whether it’s creating something new or tackling a physical challenge. In addition to tutoring, I keep busy running my own fitness business and property rentals. I’m also an animal lover and share my home with my two cats, Mo and Luis. My approach is student-centred, meaning I tailor my teaching to suit the needs of each learner, whether they benefit from structured guidance, interactive discussions, or real-world applications of theory. Teaching Techniques & Methodology I use a variety of teaching strategies to ensure lessons are engaging and accessible: Interactive Learning: I incorporate discussions, case studies, and real-life examples to make concepts relevant. Active Participation: Learners are encouraged to engage in debates, group work, and problem-solving activities. Visual & Practical Aids: I use PowerPoints, videos, and practical scenarios to reinforce understanding. Assessment for Learning: Regular formative assessments, quizzes, and feedback sessions help track progress and refine learning strategies. Supportive & Reflective Approach: I create a safe space for learners to ask questions, reflect on their learning, and develop confidence. Typical Lesson Length Each lesson is typically 1 hour, though this may vary depending on the needs of the student or the course structure. Sessions are well-paced, incorporating a mix of instruction, discussion, and applied learning. Qualifications & Experience I hold a BSc in Psychology and a PGCE in Further Education, alongside Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care. I have over 10 years of experience in the care sector and 5 years in education, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with additional learning needs. My experience in both academia and practice allows me to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. Who My Lessons Are For I tutor learners studying Health and Social Care at Levels 1, 2, and 3, as well as A-Level Psychology. My students are typically aged 16-19, although I also support learners prior to their GCSEs and adult learners looking to enter or progress within the health and social care sector. My sessions are designed to help learners develop both academic knowledge and the practical skills needed for their careers.
