About Phoebe

My interest in teaching developed through psychology, coaching, and my own experiences within higher education and doctoral research. I enjoy helping students move from feeling overwhelmed or stuck to feeling clearer, more confident, and able to make meaningful progress in their work.

Alongside private tutoring, I currently work as a university lecturer and research supervisor within psychology and coaching-related programmes. I have experience teaching and supervising across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, with particular expertise in qualitative research, academic writing, IPA, thematic analysis, and grounded theory.

Qualifications include a Doctorate in Coaching and Mentoring (Level 8), EMCC Senior Practitioner Accreditation, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), PG Certificate in Digital Education (Merit), and a First Class BSc (Hons) in Psychology.

My approach is supportive, structured, and developmental, with a focus on helping students strengthen confidence, critical thinking, and independent research skills.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring combines academic expertise with a structured, developmental mentoring style designed to help students gain clarity, confidence, and momentum throughout the research and writing process.

I specialise in qualitative research support, dissertation mentoring, academic writing development, and postgraduate research supervision across psychology, coaching, and related social science disciplines. Particular expertise includes Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), thematic analysis, and constructivist grounded theory.

Sessions are collaborative, practical, and tailored to the individual student and stage of their project. Rather than simply correcting work, I focus on helping students understand their methodology, strengthen analytical thinking, improve academic writing, and develop confidence in their own research decisions.

Support may include:

- Qualitative research design and methodology guidance
- Coding and theme development support
- Literature review feedback
- Academic writing clarity and argument development
- Developmental feedback on drafts
- Dissertation planning and accountability support
- Viva preparation

Typical sessions are 60 minutes, although longer dissertation and analysis sessions can also be arranged where appropriate

I am an experienced lecturer, teaching across undergraduate and masters level psychology programmes alongside supervision from undergraduate to doctoral level.
