• Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I speak Turkish as a native. Because I am Turkish and I lived in Turkey for years.

• Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  I would say Mustafa Kemal Atatürk because Atatürk symbolises Turkish culture, as he proved that, contrary to the world's misconceptions, the Turkish nation was capable of achieving remarkable progress, modernisation, and independence through determination and vision.

• Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

  I like the word "aynen". It normally means that I agree with you but you can say it with different tones and gestures, and it can mean many other things, like the opposite of being in agreement with someone.

• Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  This is the best language for me because I can explain myself 100% with just a few words and don't need big sentences for doing it.

• What is the main difficulty in learning this language, and what can help the process of learning?

  So, I would say to understand how the suffixes work in this language is the hardest part of it. But after you understand the logic lying under it, it comes automatically. And I teach this part to my students in a very detailed way so that they don't have any missing part to understand the logic of it.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  This is a very common anecdote for every language actually. The person who is learning a language should listen to the language all the time. Even though they don't understand anything, they just need to listen to it. If they watch the video while listening to it, even better. That way they can figure the words out easier with the help of gestures of the people on that video.

• How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Being born in Türkiye helped me a lot. And maybe having a mother who is a Turkish language teacher. I probably listened to her while she was doing Turkish classes in public schools, with me in her belly.

• What makes you a Superprof in language?

  I am patient and never get tired of explaining or talking about something. I can describe anything in small parts so that they can understand it better. And I never get moody in the classes. It makes me happy to see my students and always hypes my mood.
