About Marcus
My name is Marcus Roberts, I study a double degree of Commerce/ Music ANU.
Absolutely love more contemporary guitar, playing bands like Nirvana, Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd. But my degree shoves jazz down our throats, so I am familiar with jazz pieces and the theoretical aspects of standards.
I have some experience in teaching guitar but I am still very keen to teach and inspire more learner/ intermediate guitarists

My approach to teaching guitar is largely based of familiarising my students with chords, soloing techniques and riffs that exist in their own personal choice of artist/ song.
I believe that teaching pieces/ songs that the student enjoys is essential for early development and inspiration to help progress.
However, to more advanced students I can offer theoretical assistance e.g. analysing a jazz pieces functional harmony, improvisation methods (modes and scales) that truly expand an individuals ability to song-write.
At the end of the day, its your lesson! Keen to assist in whatever you would like to pursue

Perfect! Marcus is excellent at playing guitar but also knows how to pare it right back to teach a complete beginner. Very patient, calm and clear with explanations. I liked his approach to jump into teaching you a song you like so you will want to practice.
