About Tara

Tara has extensive experience teaching both privately and at multiple independent schools around Melbourne. She currently holds teaching positions at; Sacre Coeur, Our Lady of Sion College and Melbourne Girls Grammar.

Tara has had over 50 students of all ages successfully complete VCE music performance exams, MYO and AYO orchestral auditions and AMEB exams from preliminary through to AmusA. Although Tara focuses on creating a strong technical foundation, she wishes to obtain the best outcome tailored specifically to all her students whether this be; exams, audition preparation, performance preparation or learning as a hobby.

Tara also actively arranges music for her students upon request. Tara teaching style caters differently to each student depending on their needs and learning style. Tara teaches cello in styles of classical, modern, pop, movie/gaming music and much more.

Tara has a passion for sharing her love of music with others in the hope of sparking this love in others

About the lesson

My teaching method is to provide each student with the approach they want, whether that be working towards exams, performances, competitions, or just for leisure. I make sure to structure each lesson accordingly and to keep a journal for each student for each lesson about what we did and what they need to practice during the week.

I couldn't recommend Tara more highly!

Tara has been teaching my daughter for 7 years now and my son for 3 years.
My daughter just obtained her AMusA with honours and my son is completing his VCE music performance exam this year.

Tara is such an inspirational, knowledgeable and friendly teacher and person with just the right balance of push when needed backed up by positive reinforcement.

I couldn't be more happy with the children's achievements and we are so grateful to Tara.

We would definitely recommend her!

My son has been learning cello from Tara for a year now and wouldn't have hoped for a better teacher. Tara is patient, kind, dedicated and understanding. My son just completed his AMEB grade 6 cello exam with honours and we couldn't be happier about his progress. I would recommend Tara as a cello teacher for other students.
