  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a serious interest in tutoring after completing a large prestige television series, Freedom at Midnight. Reaching that level in the industry gave me both the confidence and the perspective to realise I could genuinely help others navigate the acting world.

Acting can be an incredibly tough industry if you don’t understand how it works or where you’re heading. I wanted to take some of that pain and confusion away for students whether they’re beginners finding their feet or more advanced actors aiming to break through to the next level. I now really enjoy supporting both ends of that journey.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach and the topics you like to discuss with students.

I teach acting, with a strong focus on Stanislavski’s work and Method-based approaches. I also incorporate Lecoq techniques and animal studies, which I find incredibly powerful for developing physicality and distinctive character choices.

I’m a big believer in understanding the academic and structural side of acting too character psychology, objectives, prehistory, and scene analysis. These elements help actors create performances that are layered, truthful, and consistent, especially at film and high-end television level.

While freedom, energy and risk-taking are important, I believe there’s also a cerebral craft to acting that separates good performances from truly compelling ones. Not to overthink but to know what you’re reaching for.

Alongside technique, I also enjoy working on confidence: public speaking, first monologues, auditions, and the psychology of stepping into the spotlight for the first time.
  • 3) Did you have any role models or teachers who inspired you?

Yes, Robert Fried, former Head of the Oxford School of Drama. He trained originally at Drama Centre and later taught at RADA, so his grounding in Method acting was exceptional.

He taught me not just technique, but discipline, humility, and how to remove ego from the work. He also showed me the level of detail required to produce truly powerful performances. His influence still shapes how I work today, both as an actor and as a tutor.
  • 4) What qualities are required to be a good tutor?

Listening is fundamental. But in acting, honesty is just as important.

When someone wants to enter the profession, you have to be direct — not harsh, but truthful about standards and expectations. There is a level that must be reached, and part of a tutor’s job is helping students understand what that looks like.

For beginners, I bring humour, warmth and encouragement. I don’t take myself too seriously, and I demonstrate as well as explain. Students relax when they see you can do the work, not just talk about it.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote from your training or school days.

At Oxford School of Drama, I once worked on an improvised scene involving a man signing divorce papers despite still loving his wife.

I failed that scene repeatedly around sixteen times.

My tutor eventually said, “You’re not surrendering.” I argued that I was. He replied, “If you truly loved her, you’d let her go. You’d sign.”

That moment taught me something fundamental: my own ego was blocking the truth of the scene. Learning to surrender especially in high-stakes emotional work became one of the most important lessons of my training.
  • 6) What difficulties or challenges have you faced in your subject?

Acting is always about the next role.

I’ve completed two seasons of a critically acclaimed prestige drama in India with Sony, reviewed by outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter, The Indian Times and The Tribune. Yet in the UK I’m still a working, “jobbing” actor.

Breaking into strong supporting roles at home remains the next major hurdle. That tension success in one market, rebuilding in another is a challenge many actors face.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion?

I’m deeply passionate about the psychology of acting.

I genuinely believe everyone has an Oscar-level performance inside them. We see it in everyday life people are naturally truthful when they’re not trying.

But add a script, a camera, lights and an audience, and psychology changes everything.

Understanding what blocks people, how fear alters behaviour, and how to return to truth under pressure is something I find endlessly fascinating.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof?

I go “ABCD” above and beyond the call of duty.

I care about students outside the lesson too. I often send follow-up material: scenes, interviews, books, exercises or videos that might help them progress.

For me, tutoring is about building a relationship and acting as a steady pacemaker for their development not just delivering an hour and disappearing.

That ongoing support is what I think truly makes the difference.
