About Andrea
I am an open-minded, adaptable and empathetic English teacher. Passionate about literature, languages and world culture, art, science and philosophy, music and film as well as sociology and anything that opens up my mind about the world, I believe I always find a common ground with my pupils and their interests. As an educator I am an attentive listener, which means I care about the connection I have with students and to use their knowledge and preferences to help them improve their skills. When it comes to teaching I rely on the student’s needs, priorities and preferences in order to maintain a dynamic and constructive dialogue that strengthens the relationship between student and teacher. I also dedicate time to focus on students being more connected with their own unique learning processes and find the essential tools they need to flourish. I consider each individual English learner to possess a special world of their own and this means what they acquire and require from each lesson is thought, developed and executed specifically for their necessities. Although it is a challenge to design and plan diverse class materials and set independent goals for each pupil, I believe adaptability is key when achieving each particular expectation from students and I am encouraged by what inspires their motivation to work hard and meet their personal goals.
With this I choose a variety of practices and techniques to reinforce all crucial skills: Reading and visual comprehension / interpretation, thinking in the language through writing, expressing ideas by active speaking, listening activities, and stimulating original reasoning with all of the above to enhance an effective teaching method that fits perfectly with each student. With the help of books, music, current events, relevant and interesting information, movies, games, questions, conversations, grammar exercises, writing prompts, mock interviews, articles and much more I am able to construct a bridge between my students and a whole new world!
