About Gaby

My own musical journey began at the age of 3 when I begged my mom for piano lessons. Luckily, she found a piano teacher who was eager to teach young students, and the rest is history. Now, I am fortunate to be the one teaching and am excited to be a part of your musical journey!

Throughout my career, I have performed in venues across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Europe. Since making my orchestral solo debut at the age of 12, I have performed with orchestras including the UCLA Symphony, Los Angeles Bach Festival Orchestra, Southwestern Youth Festival Orchestra, Brentwood Westwood Symphony Orchestra, Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra, and Polish Festival Orchestra.

I am a prizewinner of many competitions, including the XIV Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, CT, and X Los Angeles International Liszt Competition. I was awarded a Dean's Medal at UCLA and have received awards at the state and national level in MTNA, MTAC, and CAMPT competitions.

In addition to my piano studies, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from UCLA. I have worked as a Behavioral Neuroscience Teaching Fellow at UCLA and research coordinator at USC's Brain & Music Lab. Combining my passion for music and neuroscience, I am interested in understanding how people experience music in order to optimize musicians' learning and performance process.

About the lesson

Hello students!

I am a Los Angeles-based pianist and educator currently completing my DMA in Piano Performance at UCLA. In addition to my piano studies, I have an educational and research background in neuroscience, which I incorporate into my teaching to optimize the learning process.

With 15+ years of teaching experience, I maintain an active piano studio where I emphasize developing musical imagination, relaxed technique, and a thorough knowledge of music history theory in students as young as three years old.

Lessons include customized curriculum specific to each student, hands-on learning, and creative activities that are especially engaging for young beginners. During lessons, we focus on developing elements of technique, sight-reading, ear training, musicianship, and effective practice methods.

In addition to programs for young beginners, I have extensive experience teaching intermediate and advanced students in preparation for Certificate of Merit examinations, competitions, and recitals, as well as adult students looking to begin lessons for the first time or return to the piano.

My goal as a teacher is to help students become independent thinkers and confident musicians. I focus on a comprehensive approach to piano instruction, where students are equipped not only with technical proficiency but also with a deep understanding and appreciation for music. In addition to private one-on-one lessons, I offer small group preschool piano classes, monthly musical book clubs, and performance opportunities.
