About John

I’m a composer, lyricist, and music historian with over two decades of experience writing musicals, oratorios, pop songs, and theatrical scores. But beyond the credits, I’m a teacher at heart. I believe music isn’t just about technique—it’s about expression, meaning, and connection. I bring that philosophy into every lesson, drawing from both classical foundations and contemporary creativity. I specialize in: Music theory (beginner to advanced) Songwriting and lyric development Music history and musicology (especially classical, theater, and American traditions) Whether you’re trying to write your first song, prepare for college auditions, or just understand why Bach still hits so hard—I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow. Let’s make something brilliant together.
