About Dearden

I am of dual nationality and can therefore teach in English as well as French. I can mix both languages too during a class, if this is of interest.

I have two years teaching experience, on and off, as a Yoga and Meditation Teacher. I have given numerous individual sessions since 20017, and numerous group classes. I prefer teaching individual classes since I can more easily get to know the student and have them progress faster; or small groups of 2-4 people. I also intend on eventually teaching whole classes.

I am currently studying Nutrition with a Canadian School. My main focuses at the moment are Asanas, Pranayama, Nutrition, and Anatomy.

My students, in general, give me positive feedback. Of course, I am constantly trying to improve my teaching and personal skills :)

Class – 1h30 (I can also give the same type of class in 1 hour classs)

- My classes begin with a grounding meditation, and internalisation of the senses. Breathing techniques (Pranayama) for synchronising breath and movement are used here too – 10 minutes
- An essential warm-up of the joints and muscles – 10 minutes
- The more physical part begins with Asana Vinyasa Flow – 30 minutes
- More challenging and meditative Asanas are held for a few minutes. The ‘Peak Pose’ is attempted – 15 minutes
- Relaxation and integration phase (Savasana, lying down) – 10 minutes
- Pranayama for calming the mind and increasing concentration – 10 minutes
- Meditation (guided or not)

Of course, the structure of my classes is flexible and can be modified depending on my student’s needs or capabilities. I do my best to guide and accompany my students with their own breath, which is paramount in gaining all the benefits of Hatha Yoga Vinyasa.

I can also give 1 hour classes focusing mainly on Breathing and Relaxation.

------Other Techniques ------
I am adept in numerous Pranayama techniques, Meditations and Visualisations. Breathing and Asana (Yoga Postures) are intrinsic, so I introduce these techniques during my classes when appropriate. This will allow my students to attain higher states of consciousness.

Meditation Techniques
- Grounding Meditations
- Meditations based on Chakras (energy centres in the body) and Visualisations
- Exploration and Acceptance of our feelings and emotions
- Metta, Unconditional Love (Buddhist technique)
- Gradual Relaxation of the body (Body Scans)

Pranayama techniques:
- Complete Yogic Breath – 3 phases (belly, Chest, Collar Bones) - Calming
- SOMA Breathwork (Powerful technique for calming the mind and increasing our vibration) – Calming or Energising (different ways of performing this technique)
- Kapalabatti (Fire Respiration) – Energising and Balancing
- Bhastrika - Energising
- Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) - Calming
- Kumbhaka (Breath Retentions)
- UJJAYI (Victorious Breath) – Balancing
