About Katharine
I am from Rochester, NY. I am a CODA (Child of Deaf Adult) and my first language was American Sign Language, which I am fluent in! I had to learn English at a very young age, so I feel a close connection to ESL learners. I worked as a tutor during my time at SUNY Fredonia with students from Japan, China, and Korea, which inspired me to live abroad and pursue ESL Teaching as a career. I lived in Japan for 5 years, teaching at English conversational schools, cram schools and an international school. That experience helped me master all the tools I would bring to our lessons!

I'm super energetic and friendly, and can read over essays with you, work on conversational skills and even play games that help with language acquisition. I have experience teaching ages 2 - 87, so anyone is welcome. The bulk of my experience has been at the high school to college age level.
