About Karen
I have been a bilingual teacher for 13 years. I love reading and love to teach students how reading is used everyday and the importance of it. I am a bookworm, have all the Harry Potter books as well as other series of books. The students I have taught in the past have learned to enjoy reading.

My teaching techniques are very hands on. I use many visuals to help students better understand the text/lesson we will be going over.
The lesson usually takes about 45 minutes, where a video or picture will be used to engage a student before the lesson. Once that is in place, we will move onto the lesson, where I use the I do, we do, you do method. This method gradually allows the student to work independently on the lesson.
Students will learn how to use a highlighter properly to help with understanding a text as well as how to take notes. Will be interacting and discussing the text as well. Students will learn how to communicate their thinking as well as how to write their responses in a concise manner that readers will be engaged and understand the writing.
This lesson works for grades 1st-5th. My expectations are high and this allows students to work up to the expectations and are able to be successful in the lessons.
