About Rebecca

I am a passionate teacher with many years' experience in multiple subject areas. I received my Bachelor of Science in 2003 in Spanish and TESOL. While teaching 3rd and 4th grade Bilingual classes, I earned my Master's degree in Reading. After the arrival of my children, I continued to teach through tutoring individuals and small groups in grades 6-8. I currently home educate my 3 children in 8th, 6rd, and 3rd grades while tutoring online grades K-12 in English, Essay Writing, Reading, and TESOL. I also teach small, local classes to children ages 4-10. I am passionate about my craft and my students. Your success is my success!

About the lesson

I strongly believe that each student is an individual gifted with a unique intelligence and best method of learning. Before getting into any lesson, I will first assess each student's previous knowledge in the subject and best learning style. Building on background knowledge (what is already known) is a key to success and I aim to use that to further and strengthen new knowledge as it is learned.
I guide each of my students to their own discoveries and learning, I do not perform the work for them. This way, the student is gifted the experience of truly achieving success on his/her own and not as a result of the answer being given to him/her. Guiding a student to a correct answer or through a new skill is an amazing experience and a gift to me as well as to the student.
