About Emily
Hi, my name is Emily and I live in Exeter while studying at the university. I am studying for a bachelor’s degree in English and would very much like to become a teacher in English in a secondary school once I have graduated. I am very keen to promote reading for pleasure in addition to the books that are required for GCSEs. I am most skilled in the comprehension and creative writing tasks that are asked for during the English Language exams. English was my favourite subject at secondary school and I had very encouraging teachers so I understood the importance of supportive teachers and a safe learning environment.

I will discuss with the student what they think their biggest strengths and weaknesses are in the chosen subject and decide what is most important to focus on at the beginning. I will ask the student to show me any recent work they have completed and base lessons around that, asking them to complete tasks I set.
