About Keigan

I’m a seasoned drummer in various genres. From alternative rock, pop, funk and even marching percussion, I always had a passion of passing on my knowledge and sharing music with the world. I have been teaching since high school then went on to get my music degree. I started learning by ear and then start learning to read music so I’m able to tailor to your learning needs utilizing both methods (instead of just constantly reading music, its boring!).

I currently teach at a drum center for children and have a few adult learners as well. I would like to continue sharing what I know with eager or curious students, get more people into drumming and ultimately making music fun to learn for all ages.

About the lesson

I’m a music graduate with 15 years' experience in drumming. Either you’re a new drummer or an intermediate one, I’ll be able to teach you based on what you would like to achieve (reading music from scratch? No problem. Don’t want to read but want to play by ear? No problem!). I can also teach based on the commonly used Rockschool syllabus (mixed with my own).

Lessons are individualized to the student whether you want to learn music theory, drum techniques, advanced techniques or skip most of the stuff and go straight into playing songs, there's no pressure in learning. Music is supposed to be fun so let’s keep it that way!

Lessons will be at a rehearsal space I conduct lessons (RM30/hour) and will be on weekdays after 8PM. Message me and let's have a chat to see how I can help you achieve your goals!

Super patient with students and very knowledgeable. I took lessons with him a year ago with 0 drumming experience. He taught me through it based on a pace that was comfortable for me but provided challenges when I requested. Classes are usually laidback but if you would like to progress quickly, home practice is essential. He also prepares "homework" to practice just so I always have something to practice and look forward to!

Although my coordination is very bad, he is super patient in guiding through the basics while providing a few challenges that kept me motivated to keep practicing. Classes are fun as well with a mix of technical practice and music play along. I also learnt how to read notes and also use my ears to listen which is very interesting! Recommended!
