This summer I graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2:1 BA in English Language and Linguistics. I absolutely loved my time at Leeds and could not be happier with the course I chose. The main force behind my drive and passion towards my studies were the outstandingly passionate lecturers I was taught by. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such respected academics truly wanting to share their knowledge with their students. This is what inspired me to do the same. I feel I have a great opportunity to pass on such valuable material with others. I have heard “there is nothing to revise for English” countless times, and despite English having always been my strongest subject at school, I also struggled with the best way to work towards exams. After my three years at university I could not disagree with this statement more. In contrast to that stereotype, there is no end of revision from English, in fact the sole way to improve your English writing is through daily practice.
Whilst in third year several of our modules were integrated with lower year students. Here the elder years were often paired with the lower years for group/pair projects. The expectation was for us to share our extra knowledge. For me, this was a really effective way of learning as not only was it hugely beneficial for the younger years but t also really helped consolidate my own learning. This is what inspired me to tutor others having graduated from University, I am keen to keep using my degree in a positive way, as I am passionate about the subject and miss daily learning, and want to make you feel this way too!

Lizzy has a naturally given ability to tutor. Her command of the English language (expertly taught to degree level) and her patient manner put her in great stead to pass on all that she has learned. Hardworking, trustworthy, and approachable are 3 words that instantly spring to mind - but she'd come up with much better ones.
