English Literature graduate based in Belfast offering lessons up to A Level

About the lesson
I've just graduated from Queen's University with a degree in English literature and modern history. My dream is to become a teacher who can combine a passion for knowledge with a positive student experience. My lessons are based on listening to the student and molding the lesson around their personal needs. I'm here to listen and help rather than force my interests on the student.

I've never worked on Superprof before but I have a lot of teaching experience. At 16, I worked in my secondary school as a homework club leader and stayed behind after my school day to help younger students who struggled with some academic work. At 17, I became an Irish teacher in the west of Ireland and taught students the Irish language. The positive environment of the gaeltacht and the immersion of young people in the language resulted in many young people achieving high grades in their A levels with some even becoming fluent! While at university, my time has been a bit more limited but I did manage to volunteer some of my time at the St. John Vianney Community Centre through Volunteer SU. I completed training in child protection and worked as a homework club leader. Each week at St. John Vianney Community Centre, I assisted with schoolwork and organised team-building activities. The overall aim of my team’s efforts was to improve the children’s self-belief and to support their aspirations. Consistency became particularly important to my skillset as a teacher having seen the improvements of young people socially and academically due to the structure the weekly youth club created for them.
Sofie has a great, contagious passion for her subject that helps students engage with it while under her tutorage. She has a tremendous affinity and great intuition for English literature, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with, and encourage students.
I first met Sofie a year and a half ago, through out university as we both ended up in the same history class, she was always friendly and indeed had an amazing grasp of the reading material for the course. Her insights, honesty as well as her willingness to help out if you perhaps didn't fully grasp a historical concept meant we became firm friends. Her love of life, poetry and reading meant that she became my official proof-reader for essays and coursework, indeed I was more than willing to return the favour when she asked me to read her dissertation which was amazing in terms of detail and analysis. It is for these reasons stated above that I am sure that Sofie has the ability to be a wonderful tutor as you would be hard-pressed to find a better teacher or friend than Sofie.
