About Eve
I am a 19 year old student at the University of Liverpool studying for a BA (Hons) in English, who has had a strong passion for reading and writing all my life.
I achieved a 9 in English Literature and a 9 in English Language in my GCSEs, as well as an A* in English Language & Literature at A Level. I have maintained a 2:1 average in my university course throughout my first year, which I have now completed.
I would love to be able to take my love for this subject and manifest it into helping others improve and strive for the best. I think it would be amazing to incorporate fun and interesting teaching methods to hopefully help a pupil learn to love - or at least not despise - English!

I am a caring, patient person who works well with children from an understanding and encouraging perspective.
My teaching techniques include spending time in the first session discovering the child's strengths and weaknesses. I do this through a quick spelling test, having them read a short extract aloud to me, and writing a short and snappy paragraph just so that I can get an idea of how to help them. This is then used to formulate lesson plans unique to the child, offering praise for their strengths and encouragement in areas they struggle with.
As somebody who went through years of Mathematics tutoring when I was younger, I know how scary and overwhelming it can be when you don't have any confidence or understanding in a subject - I know exactly how important a kind and compassionate tutor is, and the difference it can make in the long-run!
Lessons will be one hour long, working at a pace suitable to the child to avoid them from feeling stressed or overwhelmed. I would preferably like to work with children aged 5-16.
I achieved the highest English grade in my school year in my GCSEs, and my work from secondary school is regularly distributed to students as an excellent example of top grade writing. I specialise in both English Literature & Language, including creative writing and further Literacy techniques such as spelling and general reading.
