About Destiny
I want to support adults, older learners and GCSE students who want to improve their English, whether they're preparing for exams, returning to education or simply looking to build their confidence with reading and writing.
I have a personal understanding of how important literacy can be. I struggled with reading when I was younger and didn't learn to read until I was 12, so I know how transformative it can be when someone is given the right support and encouragement. After returning to education myself, I went on to achieve Distinctions across my Access to HE Diploma.
I want to help other learners discover that struggling with English doesn't mean they're incapable of learning it. I aim to provide patient, supportive lessons that meet people where they are and help them make steady progress.

I offer warm, personalised English tutoring for adult and older learners, as well as GCSE students. Lessons are typically 45 minutes long and tailored to your individual goals, whether that's improving grammar and punctuation, developing reading and writing skills, preparing for exams, or building confidence in English.
I hold a Level 7 GCSE in English and achieved a Distinction in English as part of my Access to HE Diploma, alongside Distinctions in Sociology and Psychology. For GCSE English, I studied The Woman in Black, An Inspector Calls and poetry by Wilfred Owen. My experience in domiciliary care and community volunteering has developed my communication, patience, active listening and ability to build positive relationships with others.
I particularly enjoy grammar and understanding how language works. I aim to explain the reasoning behind English rather than simply asking learners to memorise rules. As an autistic learner myself, I am interested in exploring supportive and accessible ways of working with students who may have similar needs, while recognising that every learner is different.
I understand personally how difficult literacy can feel, having struggled with reading when I was younger, and I want to provide a patient, encouraging environment where learners can develop their skills at their own pace.
