About Melody
I began my teaching career 25 years ago in California. I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Northridge with a CLAD (Cross-cultural Language and Development) supplemental license in order to teach English as a Second Language. Later, after moving to Kansas City I received my teaching certificate in Kansas and Missouri to teach grades K-12. I also have a supplemental license to teach English Language Arts in grades 6-12.
Over the years I've tutored students in everything from beginning reading to Middle School Algebra, beginning French, High School language arts, and creative writing. I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects to students of differing ages and backgrounds. Many of my students have been English language learners, from Spanish to Urdu, and I've enjoyed learning from them as well - Viva la difference!

In the beginning ESL program, students will begin learning English vocabulary, important phrases, and cultural references as well as sentence structure and syntax. Students will be able to name objects, people, occupations, and locations and communicate with basic conversation both orally and in written form.
