About Ardavan

Wanna know something cool? I'm a professional actor/singer who's got his Master's in Voice. So how does that make me qualified to teach English? The thing is, I work with this language every day. It is my job to understand it, to understand why certain words are being used, how they fit into the grand scheme of things, whether poetry, a song, or a monologue. It is also my job to create a connection between the text and my audience, which can only be done through mastery of the language. Enough about me! What about you? What's going on with your life? Anything new? Exciting? What do you love to do? Why do you love to do it? Tell me! Now let's talk about what exactly you are looking for help in. The nitty-gritty. Can't seem to get your thoughts out coherently? Wish your writing was more captivating? Struggling with spelling or diction? I've been there, and yes, it sucks. But I also found my way out of it, and I'm here to give you all the help I can. Sometimes, the way you're learning in the traditional classroom setting may not be the most helpful. Let's do a little one-on-one. Or maybe shut the textbook altogether and take some real-life examples...whatever works for you, to help YOU understand and overcome your learning block! Yes, it may feel like you're banging your head against a brick wall, but trust me, you don't need to do that anymore. Learning is fun, and remember, failure is your friend. I tailor lessons to each student- there is no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching or learning, and it's important for me as a teacher to recognize and embrace that fact of life. It is my job to make the student want to learn in general, not just from me. So, apart from the impartation of knowledge, a challenge in this day and age is understanding how best to do so. How does a student learn best? A hands-on approach? A more theoretical approach? A mix of both? Whether you're learning for school or for fun, you'll want someone knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about what he does to guide you through your journey. Look no further, I'm your guy! :D

About the lesson

First, I get to know my students. Who they are, what their interests are OUTSIDE of academia, what motivates them to learn, and what excites them about life.

THEN, we dive into the specifics- what they find they may be struggling with, where they are in their education, what kinds of methods they've been exposed to in the classroom, etc. A teaching plan is then devised for each student based on their own particular needs. Repetition is a BIG part of the process, though we try to make it as varied and exciting to not feel bored, but be prepared for hard work.

I tailor lessons to each student- there is no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching or learning, and it's important for me as a teacher to recognize and embrace that fact of life.
