About Sofiya

I was born in Russia but have spent a good part of my life abroad, and I speak both Russian and English fluently, having grown up in a bilingual household. In my early twenties, I taught English at a private school in South Korea, working with children aged 5 to 15 across a range of levels. That experience gave me a solid foundation in adapting lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities. I truly enjoy teaching because I love sharing the gift of language. Watching someone grow in confidence and start expressing themselves in a new language is incredibly rewarding. Language is not just grammar and vocabulary—it’s connection, culture, and expression—and I’m excited to help others discover that through Russian.

About the lesson

Hello! I’m Sonia and I teach Russian as a second language through one-to-one online lessons for beginners and intermediate learners. My approach is simple and practical: we’ll learn Russian mainly through speaking and reading, with a strong focus on conversation and everyday phrases. I believe the best way to learn a language is by using it in real-life situations, so our lessons will feel more like natural conversations than traditional classes. Here’s what you can expect: - Conversation-based learning – We’ll talk a lot, using common phrases and useful expressions you can apply right away. - Practical vocabulary – You’ll learn the words and phrases people actually use in daily life, not textbook language. - Reading for context – Short, engaging texts will help you absorb grammar and vocabulary naturally. - Tailored lessons – Every session is adapted to your level, pace, and interests. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to get more comfortable using Russian in everyday situations, I’m here to help you speak with confidence and enjoy the process. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to book your first lesson!
