About Delia

What gets me excited and satisfied is when I can clearly see that students "get" the idea, concept or mini lesson presented. It makes for a fulfilling experience which gives students opportunities for more practice.

My specialty is writing, but reading and writing go hand in hand. Reading informs writing and we usually have a response or a reaction to what we read, so that is how writing "happens." Writing is thinking first and foremost. Writing is verbalizing or articulating how we think and feel toward a certain topic, condition, experience, ideology, or a person. I LOVE to see how people think and how they express what they believe. Writing reflects a person's most sacred property: their conscience, their personhood, their soul. Writing is a language art, a craft and it is also an art form.

I started teaching non-credit ESL classes through the Continuing Education department at a community college upon graduating with an Associate of Arts in Arts and Sciences degree.

I have a BA in Literary Studies from UT Dallas and completed some hours toward a Master's Degree in Education (with emphasis in teaching writing to college students) at TAMU.

I worked as a writing tutor in the Learning Center at a local community college. I proofread & edited all essays from Writing classes to Life Sciences and Philosophy and Psychology and Drama. Have edited college entrance essays, acceptance letters, scholarship request essays, recommendations, proposals, book reviews, etc.

Have also taught College Writing including developmental and ESL/ESOL.

The first thing is I get aquainted with him or her. I like to find out a little bit about them and will usually do an ice breaker activity such as creating an architectural bio poem or just simply have a conversation.

Children, teens, young adults and older. I do not have any experience with special ed students of any age.

Credentials and experience are important, but just as significant if not more is someone who has HEART and a common-sense approach to tutoring. Above all, look for courtesy and a good (clear) communicator.

Trump's GA Rally in late September 2021. I love watching his rallies. I hope to make it in person one day. The energy is amazing. They are vibrant, positive, forward thinking, America First and for God and Country. I love how he always ends with The BEST is yet to come!

5. Have I looked up all unknown words in the dictionary?

6. Have I reserved a good block of time to spend on this assignment?
