About Ava
15 year old tutor looking to help kids k-5 with their english skills. Straight "A" high school sophomore with a multitude of achievements and awards. One of five girls on her schools previously all boys wrestling team. This determined teenager was also part of Technology Student Association and Business Professionals of America, all the while tackling home and school responsibilities. In the midst of quarantine Ava is looking for a way to earn money for college and help other students with their studies.
I go to one of the top schools in Delaware and there I can keep straight A's in all of my classes. I often proofread essays for friends, my parents have me proofread cover letters and resumes, and I help my younger sister with her English work all of the time. I have won numerous awards over the course of middle and high school. Some of these include national champion for extemporaneous speech from Business Professionals of America, second place nationally for STEM animation from Technology Student Association, and state champion for project soapbox from the Mikva Challenge. While involved in a bunch of academic extracurriculars, I also was one of five girls on Charter School of Wilmington's wrestling team. During this time I competed at Delawares first-ever all-girls wrestling tournament. I may not have a bunch of experience tutoring but trust me when I say you will not be disappointed.

I start by getting to know the student. I want to know exactly what they are struggling with so I can begin to focus on those subjects. A typical lesson begins with me letting the student choose what they want to do first. Do they want to get a difficult essay out of the way or do they want to start with the easy stuff.
My background is in teaching elementary students.
Look for someone who can relate. In 1st and 2nd grade I struggled in reading and writing. Luckily my parents hired a tutor who helped me. I went from having zero confidence in reading and writing -absolutely hating the subject - to being the top reader in class.
