About Anneke
I am a graduate of Duke University (Class of 2023; Bachelors in English Literature with minors in Creative Writing and Latin) and the University of Oxford (Class of 2024; Masters in English Literature, 1550-1700). I know what it is like to learn at a high-level university, and I am eager to share my expertise in reading, writing, Latin, and the humanities with students of all ages. I personally love learning new things, and I enjoy helping others expand their knowledge of our culture's rich literary history. Furthermore, I strive to assist students with going far in their collegiate journeys. I offer help with college application essays and standardized test prep so that my students might enjoy the wonders and excitement of an elite university experience.
I have tutored friends and peers regularly for several years. I also frequently serve as a reviewer and editor for essays, creative writing pieces, and written projects.
As for working with students, I am an athletic coach for a local fencing club, where I teach students age 8 to 18. I also have worked for Girl Scouts as a camp counsellor, so I am quite experienced communicating with children.

In the first session, I spend the first few minutes establishing what type of learner the student is (visual, auditory, kinetic, etc.) so that I can cater my explanations to what they best understand. I also try to establish the student's goals (what they want to learn/accomplish by the end of our time working together).
