About Colleen

A professional educator since 1991, Ms. Colleen Roberts brings enthusiasm, attention to detail, and an encouraging nature to every tutoring session. Prompt response time, dependability in every way, and the utmost care for students' academic successes are the driving forces Ms. Roberts adheres to as a personal teacher.

I am certified in High School English 9 - 12, Middle Grades English 5 - 9, and K - 6 General Elementary. In addition, I have been a tutor - both in person and online - for one year.

I have enjoyed working with young people since I was one myself! Helping someone achieve success and that feeling of "I got it!" is a lifelong pursuit for me. My passion is helping others any way I can.

I have wanted to be a teacher since I wa a small child.  Actually, I have never thought about another profession because I was meant to help young people achieve their academic goals.

I have been a classroom teacher since 1991 and have three certifications - High School English 9 - 12, Middle Grades English 5 - 9, and General Elementary K - 6.

When working with a new student, I first like to get to know the young person for a few minutes.  We talk about random subjects for a little while, then after the ice is broken, I focus on the matter at hand.  We start slowly, with only a few minutes given to an academic topic, then I pause and we reflect on how it is going so far.  At that point, I am quite flexible and will modify my presentation to better match the needs of the student.  After a few modifications, we become comfortable with the learning process and can continue.

I have worked with students from fourth grade - high school seniors.  I have also helped with SAT Reading and Writing prep.
