About Sophia
I'm Sophia, and in 2015 I graduated from UCL with a First Class Degree in English Literature. Since then, I have completed an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU where I was the recipient of the Dalio Foundation Scholarship and averaged a GPA of 3.9.
I am from a family of teachers, and spreading my enthusiasm for learning is something that has been a part of me since attending Latymer Upper School, where I graduated with 5 A*s at A Level. These were in English Literature, History of Art (I received the third highest mark in the UK), Philosophy and Ethics, Drama and Extended Essay.
At GCSE level, I received 7 A*s in Latin, English Literature, English Language, Geography, Drama, Biology (IGCSE), Physics (IGCSE) and As in Maths, French, Art and Chemistry.
Also while at Latymer, I obtained a Distinction in Grade 8 Lamda Examinations. These taught me valuable lessons in self confidence, public speaking and gifted me with an ability to articulate myself. I always encourage my students to be able to speak up when they have an interesting opinion, which is an invaluable life skill, especially in preparation for the seminar structure of University.
I believe that while it is very important to know how to take tests and learn the formulas it is equally important to develop a genuine interest in the world around you and the subjects you study. I hope to pass on some of my passion for learning to your children.
