About Kaitlyn
I have a deep passion for reading as someone who struggled in the foundational years myself. After teaching primary grades for a couple of years and moving to intermediate, my passion for reading has only grown deeper. As a 3rd grade teacher, I see the reading gaps growing larger and larger and witness firsthand just how hard it can be for students to catch up once they fall behind in reading skills. I work hard to form meaningful relationships with students so they feel safe and comfortable to make mistakes and grow.

I focus on the 5 pillars within the science of reading; phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. I create a positive, low-pressure space where students can take risks, make mistakes, and celebrate small wins. This builds self-esteem and encourages a love for reading, even in reluctant or struggling readers.
