About Noelle

My name is Noelle, I was born in London. British mum and French dad. After graduating from an all-girls public school, I went straight to work in the Financial sector in Geneva, using English as my greatest skill. I was the one translating in-house brochures from French to English and giving English tutorials to my French colleagues back in the 90's. I enjoy teaching English in particular because it is the most used language in the world for business, communicating with non-natives, negotiations, film industry, bestsellers et cetera...However, the challenge is to teach students this second or even third language for them in a manner that can be understood by all. The most rewarding for me is achieving this, knowing I played a part in helping them on a good career path and even for Management.

About the lesson

I use my personal experience in teaching and extensive travel to help the student engage in conversation. This is my way of breaking the ice and moving forward to other topics and finally being able to concentrate on written and conversational English. I adapt my curriculum based on my student's personality and their main interests, such as hobbies or studies. I also believe that reading is essential to expand the mind, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. I think that a good two-sided conversation should include topics such as sports, newest apps, world politics, and latest popular films and series. I have always gotten on well with my students and they with me. Perhaps because although I am 61 years of age I feel no different than when I was 30. I have many young friends who feel comfortable in my presence and therefore discuss things they otherwise might not. I am not a Tanie to them just a lady who has experienced life, traveled extensively and has no preconceived ideas. This allows for a very relaxed tutorial despite my staying very strict when it comes to English pronunciation and the written word.
