About Courtney
Hello! My name is Courtney and I have been a primary teacher for four years. I've worked in all sorts of schools, with all sorts of children. I love my job and my students and am commited to ensuring each child I work with feels calm, focused and ready to learn to ensure potential is unlocked from each and every one. I follow a social constructivist approach to teaching, and believe whole heartedly our children learn when considered as holistic beings rather than just learners. My teaching approach will value both parental and child voice and tailor lessons specifically to the way each family would like. Length of a lesson will usually depend on your child's needs.
Typically a lesson can last from 40 minutes to 70 minutes depending on your child's learning age, developmental age, social age and required tutoring.
I will preform assessments on child's learning needs and am happy to share on going communication with parents. I am able to provide foundational understanding to ensure schemas can be built effectively for future learning. I have a background in dyslexia intervention strategies, nurture and trauma informed learning practice, and I am also able to develop deeper instrumental learning if this is the stage your child finds themselves.
I aim to foster an intrinsic motivation to learn in all my students and believe that building a relationship with students is key to confident learners.
I focus on ages 5-12, depending on level child is at (example- child is 14 but working with in 2nd level/key stage2 ) would be happy to work with them.
